I need to lose a bit of weight. I'm on the edge of becoming over weight. I have never been on a 'diet' but as I approach the age of 40 and with my body having produced two children it's not looking the best.

My stomach bulges over my trousers and it could look as if I'm pregnant. Gone are the days when I could lie in the bath and my tummy disappears so that it looks like I'm skinny as a beanpole. It won't even do that now.

I don't want to be the target for 'Yo mama' jokes when my kids are older. So I have to sort myself out.

Food & exercise

I'm not keen on eating fruit. It's much quicker to peel open a snack bar than it is to chomp away on an apple. I'm so slow at eating fruit, I think that is what puts me off. We are vegetarian at home, but I do eat chicken and fish when I go out. It's nice to have a bit of chocolate in the evening, and if the kids are playing up I go to the chocolate cupboard afterwards as my reward for putting up with their behaviour.

But the snacks are the worst. I work from home so the biscuit tin calls my name, then it insists that I take more than one, how can I say no? Then the kids come home from school, they want snacks, cakes, biscuits sometimes and I have to have something with them, even through I know I don't need it.

I'm not a big fan of the gym but I do go twice a week for an hour. 30 mins of cardiovascular exercise then some weights. Any more than twice a week I'll just end up hating the gym.

We have a dog so it's up to me to  do the dog walk everyday. But we have a dog that doesn't like to walk fast and she is small so she doesn't need long walks either.

I like wii Dance and Yoga too but in between working from home, kids and all the housework I just don't make time.

My target

  • My target is to lose 1 stone 5lb / 8kg. My weight isn't going up, so my current exercise and diet isn't bad, but I just can't get it to come down.
  • I would like to be able to control my food portions, eat less snacks and want to eat healthily.
  • I need to control my moods so that I don't feel low as much and want to reach for the sweet things.
  • I would like to have the motivation to want to be more exercise every day.
  • I need to feel less tired all the time in order to be active more.

Day 10

I have listened to this everyday for 10 days and there is no change. I do not feel more motivated to exercising more or eating more healthily either. I can't see the full 30 days through with this.

Result: FAIL

Current weight: 9st 12lb / 62kg - NO CHANGE
